Burlington POWIR stands for Partners Organized to Welcome Immigrants and Refugees. Spearheaded by St. Veronica Parish and supported by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, the group is working with the Town of Burlington, community civic and religious organizations, and individual residents wishing to help others in need. The goal is to locate affordable long term housing for an Afghan Refugee Family, assist them in establishing a home and assist them in navigating all aspects of a new life in Burlington, MA.

POWIR is working with two Afghan refugees who are renting apartments in the Burlington area. The rent for each is $800/month. The Presbyterian Church in Burlington is partnering with POWIR to collect offerings to provide at least one month’s rent for these refugees. You can donate by check with the memo line “POWIR” or use the “DONATE” button on our website, using “POWIR” or “Afghan Refugees” to designate your offering to this cause.

Linda Roscoe has been our church’s representative to the group and would love to chat with anyone interested, especially anyone who knows of housing in the Burlington area or Lowell. For more information or to donate you can use these links:
